Writer, painter, singer, survivor of Samudaripen. At the end of World War II, after having suffered the horrors of the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Ravensbrück and Bergen-Belsen, she documented and published the songs, poems and stories of the Lovara about the Samudaripen.

She is known worldwide as an extremely committed human rights defender who has been working closely with victim groups, NGOs, governments and international organizations around the world to better protect the rights of disadvantaged, discriminated and impoverished communities, with special attention to to children and women. 

Mathematician, first woman in Europe to get a position as an university professor (1881). Born and raised in a Russian Romani family of good academic training, Sofia was also a descendant of Matthias Corvinus, king of Hungary.
